A summary of the grammar of Shusheng Wei’s self-study Chinese language lesson in four times and eight steps

Recently, in order to help children learn Chinese texts on their own, I have searched for a lot of materials, but they are not very targeted. A lot of information talks about how to self-study Chinese. It is usually complicated due to the characteristics of the subject. There are few that specifically focus on how to self-study the text. I am extremely concerned about this because the national education reform will inevitably increase the weight of Chinese. Being able to study texts by yourself is a breakthrough for learning Chinese well, and it also benefits other subjects.

Moreover, after communicating with many prospective Qingbei students, I found that most of them are excellent in science subjects, have excellent Chinese scores, and some also have English scores, so they have no chance of being admitted to Qingbei. So starting from junior high school is a good opportunity to learn Chinese well.

For a while, I remembered Teacher Wei Shusheng. What a coincidence, he is a Chinese teacher, and he happens to teach junior high school. Thinking of his lectures in various places, he talked about letting students learn Chinese texts on the spot. So I searched around this point, and I really found it. This is his four-step eight-step self-study Chinese text.

First pass: skip reading. 1,500 words per minute, understand the author and the main idea of ??the article, the main people, things, objects and opinions.

The speed limit is about speed and concentration. The following requirements can be found in the notes to understand the author, and the rest can be obtained through reading. I searched for the word count of junior high school texts. The longest one is more than 3,000 words, and Baicao Garden is more than 2,300 words. But most of them are short and medium-sized articles. I can’t find the exact number. I roughly estimate that the average modern text is 1,000-2,000 words per article. At the same time, these high-quality articles must have a clear theme, so the relationships between people, things, and things in them are simple and easy to clarify. As for the author's point of view, it is enough to have a general understanding. Will the center be summarized later?

I have paid attention to several Chinese previews for my children. Most of them are very demanding and take at least 30 minutes. Without several preview requirements in a semester, children will naturally not develop the habit of previewing Chinese. In fact, I think it’s just right to use this “first pass” requirement to preview.

Second time: speed reading. 1,000 words per minute, retell the content of the article and clarify the structure and level.

Pay attention to the difference in reading speed, which also requires a high degree of concentration. When reciting the content of an article, you should close the book and do it. This is also called memory retrieval, and it is an excellent learning method. It is a little difficult to sort out the structural levels. Teacher Wei himself said that the four times and eight steps method requires training. I checked a lot of materials, and I feel that the structural level he summarized is relatively clear. Friends who are interested can search for it by themselves.

The third time: read carefully. 200 words per minute. It is necessary to master the words and sentences, highlight the key points, and summarize the central meaning.

Combined with the vocabulary list of new words, familiarity with words and sentences is not a problem. It is scientific to put the elimination of new words in this step, otherwise the beginning will be unsound, and the following steps will become a snake's tail. For new words, you should copy them at least once, check the pinyin, and understand the meaning. In particular, you should make it clear which meaning it belongs to in the text. My native method is to regard sentences containing new words as key sentences. I think the central meaning is easier to summarize, and it can be gradually improved from the above to be more accurate. Underline the key sentences. Teacher Wei did not give a standard. There are some instructions online for you to refer to and try. Combined with the teacher's lectures, you can quickly summarize the rules.

The fourth time: analyze the writing characteristics, taste the key paragraphs, and understand the key sentences.

Analyzing the characteristics of writing is more difficult than the previously mentioned "clarifying the structural levels", "drawing out the key points" and "summarizing the center", so I decided to mainly refer to Teacher Wei's suggestions. Establish standards for children to train. At the same time, combined with the experience of tutoring children in reading, if these four aspects can be done well, it will be easier to score reading questions.

My biggest experience in learning Chinese texts is to read more. I must have read a text more than 10 times, and I really like it. Mr. Feng Zikai also emphasized reading more, the so-called "twenty-two times reading method", I think he also enjoyed the beauty of it. Therefore, the main function of the above four self-study methods is to lay a solid foundation and gain more by reading more texts.

This is a big job, so take your time.
