Zhao Kuangyin (March 21, 927 - November 14, 976), the founder of the Song Dynasty in China, was of Han nationality. He was born in Jiamaying, Luoyang, and his ancestral home was Zhuozhou, Hebei. Born into a military family, he is the second son of Zhao Hongyin. In 948, he joined Guo Wei, the privy envoy of the Later Han Dynasty, and made many military exploits.
