There are several ways to hold a pen.

There are three ways to hold a pen: five fingers, three fingers and hand.

1, five-finger writing

The five-finger pen holding method is to hold the pen firmly with all five fingers of the right hand by the method of "press, press, hook, check and reach", so that the fingers can perform their duties. In this way, the strength of the five fingers evenly surrounds the three sides of the pen, making the pen fixed and the palm empty. This is the so-called "five-finger writing".

Writing is based on the principle that the fingers are solid and the palms are empty. The external reality is like a lotus flower half open, and the internal deficiency can accommodate eggs. Pen tube is based on the principle of honesty. The force should be moderate, not too tight or too loose.

2. Three-finger writing

Because in ancient times, people sat cross-legged on the ground, and some knelt on the ground with their knees crossed. At that time, there were no benches or tables, only machines such as coffee tables. Because the cents were very low, people had to hang their hands when writing. This law spread to Japan and has been used ever since.

3, master the tube method

Hold the pen in your hand and write. Pinch tube method is to put the fingertips of five fingers together and hold the end of the pen to write.

From ancient times to the present, there are various ways to hold a pen. According to the textual research of the late famous calligrapher Sha Menghai from the writing posture of the writers in ancient paintings, it is believed that the ancients wrote China's calligraphy with three-finger calligraphy.

It is worth mentioning that the pen holder does not always have to be perpendicular to the paper. In the process of writing, the pen holder can naturally tilt slightly, but the amplitude is small. Generally, when writing regular script, the pen should always be vertical.
