During the Five Dynasties, Vietnam was separated independently. In the fourth year of Song Chunhua (993), Lingnan Road was renamed Guangnan Road. Due to the changes of administrative divisions in past dynasties, the word Lingnan, especially Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Hong Kong and Macao, is the regional scope of South China today.
Lingnan culture refers to the culture in Lingnan area of China, covering many contents such as academics, literature, painting, calligraphy, music, opera, crafts, architecture, gardens, folk customs, religion, diet, language, overseas Chinese culture and so on.
Geographically speaking, Lingnan culture is divided into three parts: Guangdong culture, Guangxi culture and Hainan culture. Guangdong culture is divided into Guangfu culture, Chaoshan culture, Hakka culture, Leizhou culture and Gaoliang culture. In particular, Guangfu culture, Chaoshan culture and Hakka culture constitute the main body of Chinese culture in Lingnan.
Lingnan culture has a long history. Historically, Lingnan culture has made indelible contributions to the formation and development of the Han nationality, and has played an important role in the history of Chinese cultural development.
Modern Lingnan culture is an advanced culture in modern China, which has a great influence on modern China. Lingnan culture, with its unique characteristics of pluralism, pragmatism, openness, compatibility and innovation, absorbs the essence of the Central Plains and freshens the air of the four seas, and is unique in the forest of Chinese culture.
The location of Lingnan in China, even in ancient times, is the floorboard of the area south of Wuling in southern China. Wuling consists of five mountains: Yuechengling, Dupangling, Mengzhuling, Qitianling and Dayuling, which are generally distributed at the junction of eastern Guangxi, eastern Guangdong and Hunan and Jiangxi provinces. Administratively, Lingnan was once the name of Lingnan Road in the Tang Dynasty, which was equivalent to the whole territory of Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan and the Red River Delta in Vietnam, and once belonged to the rule of the Chinese dynasty. Due to the changes of administrative divisions in past dynasties, the word Lingnan, especially Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Hong Kong and Macao, is the regional scope of South China today.
? Due to the influence of folds, faults and magmatic activities in previous crustal movements, Lingnan landform has formed the characteristics of mountains, hills, platforms and plains, with many mountains, great differences in rock properties and complex and diverse landform types. There are many rivers in Lingnan, which have the characteristics of large flow, low sediment concentration, long flood season and rich runoff. Most of these rivers originate in the mountainous areas in the northwest, north and east. The Pearl River, the largest river in Lingnan, is the third longest river in China, and its flow is second only to the Yangtze River, ranking second in China. It plays a positive role in promoting national economic and social development.
