Liaohe River is located in the northwest of Jiangxi Province, and originated from Jiuling Mountain Range. Liaohe stone is a unique natural stone in Jiuling mountain range, which has been washed away by Liaohe water for thousands of years. Liaohe stone is produced in all towns along the Liaohe River, among which Ganzhou Town in Fengxin County is the most dense and peculiar. Therefore, Ganzhou town has become the main distribution center of Liaohe stone market. When the North Liaohe River passes through Ganzhou Town, local farmers pick out strange stones in the North Liaohe River, endow them with culture and spirituality, turn them into genuine works of art, form a unique "strange stone culture", and gradually push them to the market, forming a unique "strange stone culture" industry. More than 200 farmers in Zhangjia Village, Ganzhou Town have been engaged in the strange stone industry for many years, and 22 people have become members of Jiangsu Strange Stone Association. Fengxin County opened a commercial street specializing in strange stones in Zhangjia Village, Ganzhou Town, named "Strange Stone Street". On this 200-meter-long street, farmers in Ganzhou and strange stone merchants in Nanchang and Anyi have opened 32 shops mainly focusing on strange stones, mainly including strange stones, root carvings, peasant paintings, calligraphy, paper-cutting and other commodities with strong local characteristics. The stone trade in "Shiyuan Street" reached thousands of times, with a turnover of more than 600,000 yuan, which attracted nearly 1,000 farmers from three counties to join the ranks of picking up, hiding and selling stones. In the first half of 2008 alone, the sales of strange stones brought more than 800,000 yuan in economic income. In the Olympic Stone Exhibition held in Beijing, three pieces were selected by Ganzhou Town.
In 2008 10, Ganzhou town organized four strange stone lovers to attend the fifth international strange stone festival in Liuzhou, Guangxi, which expanded the popularity of Liaohe strange stone. Of the eight Liaohe stones representing Jiangxi in this exhibition, seven won the prize, and only one was unsuccessful. One of the river stones is the good result of winning the bronze prize.
