As the president of the Chinese Buddhist Association, the elder Chuanyin heard about the grand reconstruction of Wuzhen Temple, and immediately wrote an inscription-"Roots of Jing Zong".
Now, these four vigorous and sad calligraphy characters have given the answer: Pure Land Sect is rooted in the good teacher and originated from Wuzhen Temple in Zhong Nanshan.
But some people may still have doubts at first glance: Wuzhen Temple, a strange word, is such a little-known temple worthy of the name of "the root of pure Sect"?
This is not surprising, after all, this history has indeed been sealed for too long.
In the Tang Dynasty, I'm afraid Buddhists all over the world knew the name of Wuzhen Temple. The natural scenery here is great and there are outstanding people. Since ancient times, monks have come forth in large numbers, and the heroes have gathered together. Most importantly, during the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the founder of Pure Land Sect, Master Shandao, emerged here, and Master Shandao founded Pure Land Sect in Wuzhen Temple.
The Pure Land Sect founded by the Master of Good Guidance inherited the pure land such as Daochuo, Tanluan, Qin Tian and Dragon Tree. Interpreting the Pure Land Sutra from the standpoint of Amitabha's original wish, there is no Buddhist concept. Based on Amitabha's original wish, there is a unified and complete theory of religious judgment of Pure Land, a continuous relationship between dharma and justice, a complete theory and practice of doctrine, and a strict sectarian scale.
Other ancestors' explanations of Tommy's Pure Land in history do not have the above characteristics. They all confuse the pure land of various sects, and do not explain the pure land purely according to the pure land, so it is only a pure land religion, not a pure land Sect. Such as Tiantai Pure Land, Huayan Pure Land, Knowledge Pure Land and Zen Pure Land. That is, the so-called "Pope Tiantai, a trip to the pure land" and "Pope Hua Yan, a trip to the pure land" and so on. Therefore, only the master of good guidance is recognized as the founder of Pure Land Sect.
There are many temples related to the master's life, such as Xuanzhong Temple in Shaanxi, Fengxian Temple in Longmen, Guangming Temple in Chang 'an, Practical Temple, Ji 'an Temple, Ji Xiang Temple and Wuzhen Temple in Zhong Nanshan. But it is the master's fundamental Dojo, and it is also the closest Wuzhen Temple to him.
From the ninth year of Zhenguan (635) to the first year of Zhang Zong (668), the master spent most of his time in Wuzhen Temple except for studying in Xuanzhong Temple for four years.
