What is the Sanggan River?

Sanggan River is the upper reaches of Yongding River and an important tributary of Haihe River. It is located in the northwest of Hebei Province and the south bend of Shuocheng District, Shuozhou City, northern Shanxi Province. According to legend, every year when the mulberries mature, the river will dry up, hence the name. Sanggan River is 506 kilometers long with a drainage area of 23,900 square kilometers. The main tributaries are Liuhu River, Yu He River and Hunhe River.
