Wrist movement in calligraphy refers to the method of turning the wrist clockwise or counterclockwise according to the needs of expressing strokes when writing brush strokes, also known as wrist method. There are three main ways to carry the wrist: pillow wrist, lift wrist and hang elbow. Wrist pillow refers to writing with the right wrist of the pen on the desktop or on the back of the left hand. This method has the smallest rotation radius and limited activity range, and is suitable for writing small characters. Lifting the wrist refers to hanging the wrist on the desktop with the wrist as the fulcrum and keeping the pen tube vertical. Hanging the elbow refers to putting the elbow on the desktop and lifting the wrist with the elbow as the fulcrum.
