Folk people combine deer and crane, two animals symbolizing longevity, to imply.

Crane and deer in the same spring is one of the traditional meanings in China. Liuhe refers to the four sides of heaven and earth (heaven and earth and southeast and northwest), and also refers to the world in general. Liuhe Tongchun means spring scenery on earth, and everything is thriving.

China folk use homophonic techniques to take the sound of "land" with "deer"; "Crane" takes the sound of "crane". The meaning of "spring" takes flowers, pine trees, Chinese toon trees and so on. These images are combined to form an auspicious pattern of "six in one spring".

Traditional auspicious patterns in China

It is generally believed that cranes are divine birds and deer are auspicious animals. There is a saying in the story of deer that this animal lives to be a thousand years old, pale all over, then turns white in 500 years and black in 2000 years.

"Ruiying Map" says that if Wang Di applies the laws of sages and does not lack them, there will be white deer, which is an auspicious sign of peace, political integrity and harmony. Therefore, the painting "Crane and Deer in the Same Spring" expresses people's good wishes for prosperity and security.
