Don’t write without inspiration
Song Yugui is a very talented calligrapher and painter with a strong understanding and is known as a "ghostly genius". He is good at landscapes, flowers, and calligraphy, and is especially famous for his landscapes. Its landscape structure and layout are subtle and atmospheric, with the blending of brush and ink, the interplay of dry and wet, the continuous strokes are vigorous, and the colors are elegant. The work especially advocates "qiyun". The nib, belly and root of the pen can be used freely, and the pen can operate in countless changes. He once created an ink painting "Locust Tree Dew", with broad strokes and large ink, vivid and vivid, although it is dry, it is still wet, and the momentum is smooth. It can be said that the eighteen martial arts of Chinese painting have been fully demonstrated in "Sophora Dew", which also shows Song Yugui's profound artistic skills and extraordinary talent. In the author's opinion, this painting "Sophora Dew" can definitely be ranked among the most classic ink paintings today.
Song Yugui’s painting creations are unique in many ways. For example, he doesn't paint every day, and he usually doesn't paint when he's not inspired. When inspiration comes, I often work day and night to create. Once, he did not go to bed for 28 consecutive days in order to create, and he was so selfless. For every painting, no matter how big or small, there is almost always a long title. Sometimes after finishing the title once, he feels that it is not enough, so he will do it again a second time. His literary skills and off-painting accomplishments are extraordinary, which are often lacking in most young and middle-aged painters.
Song Yugui was also very particular about the use of seals. In addition to famous seals, many seal carvers are also invited to carve a large number of casual seals and micro-engraved anti-counterfeiting seals. Whenever they encounter a masterpiece, they often select a few stamps to add color to the work.
Song Yugui is quite good at calligraphy, proficient in cursive script, and is self-contained. Later, due to a car accident, his right hand basically lost the ability to write, so he switched to his left hand. Unexpectedly, the left strokes are vigorous, ups and downs, unique, and often complement the paintings. It is a masterpiece. Many collectors prefer his calligraphy to his paintings.
