Also known as Han Hai. Meaning changes with the times. During the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties, it refers to the sea names in the north. The Tang Dynasty refers to the vast area north of the Great Desert in the Mongolian Plateau and the present Junggar Basin. The Yuan Dynasty refers to the ancient Jinshan Mountain (now Altai Mountain). Used to refer to the Gobi Desert since the Ming Dynasty. One is the transliteration of Hang Ai (Shan).
