Tang Yin's works have not been circulated for a long time, and have been scattered among the people. After liberation, major museums paid more attention to their collections, but they also flowed overseas. Since the end of 1980s, two major auction houses in the world began to sell their works. Because of his high popularity in people's hearts, many people are willing to spend a lot of money to collect his works.
On September 2013 19, Sotheby's in new york held a special auction of ancient China paintings and calligraphy. Among them, the starting price of a vertical painting "Lushan Waterfall" by Tang Yin, a famous painter in the Ming Dynasty, was $300 million. After 120 rounds of auction, it was finally sold at a sky-high price of US$ 590 million (about RMB 3.6 billion), setting a new world record for the auction of calligraphy and painting in Tang Yin.
This painting is the only recorded work of Tang Yin since Shiqu Baodi 1989. This painting was made by a famous minister in the Ming Dynasty, with the theme of seclusion in Lushan deep courtyard. Li Dongyang and Yang Yiqing, two cabinet ministers in the Ming Dynasty, wrote an inscription for this painting. During the reign of Empress Dowager Cixi, this painting was awarded to Sun Yuwen, Minister of Military Affairs in the late Qing Dynasty, together with "The Residence of Floating Jade Mountain" by Qian Xuan, and was later collected by Song Ziwen and his family. This painting attracted the attention of many collectors during the preview.
