I. Zhang's former residence
According to the Records of Zhouzhuang Town, Zhang, a writer and calligrapher in the Western Jin Dynasty, once lived in Zhouzhuang Town. In the first year of Yongning, Jinhui Emperor (AD 30 1), Hans Zhang was appointed as assistant to the prime minister. Due to political corruption and apathy at that time, Hans Zhang resigned from his post in Luoyang on the grounds of "homesickness" and returned to his hometown, living in seclusion in the south lake of Zhouzhuang, leading a leisurely and quiet secluded life.
Second, Liu Yuxi's former residence
Liu Yuxi, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, once lived in Nanhu Lake. When he was in charge of Suzhou secretariat, he was very sympathetic to the people. In the fifth year of Daiwa (AD 83 1 year), Suzhou suffered a severe flood, resulting in poor harvest. Liu Yuxi opened a warehouse for disaster relief, duty-free corvee, won the hearts of the people. Soon, Liu Yuxi was demoted. He came to Zhouzhuang, a water town, and stayed at the south lake for a while. After he left, people spontaneously built the Gong Liu Temple to commemorate him.
Third, Ye Chuchen's former residence
In the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, there was a patriot in Zhouzhuang, and he was Mr. Ye Chuchen. The former residence of Ye Chuchen that we can see today is the former residence of his ancestors. The former residence was built in Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty, which is a typical Suzhou quadrangle style. Its architectural features are hard gables with clear bricks and small tiles, and lattice windows hanging in cloisters, which imitate the housing pattern of the Ming Dynasty and have been well preserved so far.
