Only one of the most authoritative calligraphers' associations in China is recognized by the state, and that is the China Calligraphers' Association, which belongs to the Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Circles under Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China. Others are non-governmental organizations, and the state does not recognize the calligraphy grade certificate of non-governmental organizations.
