Yixing is a famous teapot producing area in China. In Dingshan Town, Du Tao, Yixing, it is said that more than 10,000 teapot makers have gathered, including folk teapot makers handed down from generation to generation, and people from all over the country and even the world. Wang Yaping, a professor in the Art Department of Changzhou Textile and Apparel Vocational and Technical College, has established his position in the ceramic circles of Taodou and China in recent years with his Founder series of ceramic works.
We came to Wang Yaping Ceramic Studio in Dingshan. His set of two-piece square pots "Good Brothers" has just won the gold medal in the 4th Dalian International Tea Expo and the World Overseas Chinese Tea Set Appraisal. Previously, his "Founder Series B" won the gold medal in the "Second China Arts and Crafts Master and Art Fair" and was selected for the 10th National Art Exhibition. At that time, only two ceramists were selected in Jiangsu Province.
Wang Yaping may be the lowest-key artist in Taodou, but his works, whether small teapot or large ceramic works, have strong tension and atmospheric impression; His calligraphy works are also golden hooks and iron pens, which are magnificent. Even people who meet him for the first time can feel that he is full of vitality and vitality all the time. On the second floor of his studio, some of his ceramic works are on display, and even the tea tray for our tea tasting is made by him, which is light, durable and artistic. Sitting around here, sipping Yixing real estate black tea and listening to Wang Yaping talking about his works, I was infected by his immersion in his works. He picked up an award-winning "good brother" square pot and showed it to us. "Look, there is no spout? On the handle, there is one on each side, one on the left and one on the right. No need to turn, there is tea on both sides. Have fun. Nobody makes such a pot, right? " . It seems that we don't know all the good things. He has been arguing that the more you fall, the happier you are. "Is it fun?" He is like a child, frank and unpretentious, which is a strange contrast with the dignity and integrity of a series of Chen Fang Zisha works around him.
The pot made by Wang Yaping is not as round and delicate as the familiar teapot, but square, exquisite and interesting. Square pot is more difficult to make than round pot in production technology, and its composition and shape are more unique. Almost all his works are engraved with Wang Yaping's calligraphy. In his view, his picturesque calligraphy generally emphasizes the formal beauty of China's calligraphy, but it is not necessary to see it clearly. It is intended to strengthen the line operation of calligraphy and the three-dimensional display of pottery utensils, know white and keep black, look forward to life, and maximize the publicity of personality, expression, spirit and aesthetic feeling of the times. He poured his thoughts, feelings and aesthetics into his works. He said that his works should first impress himself, and then impress others. After more than 30 years of continuous exploration and creation, his founder image and his unrestrained calligraphy have become personal symbols of his works. You can tell at a glance that it is Wang Yaping's work. Many people admire his studio, like his works and collect his works. In his studio, there is a gas kiln for burning porcelain, and there is a large relief blank made for a famous enterprise on the ground. In recent years, many ceramic works of Wang Yaping have been collected by many famous entrepreneurs and displayed in elegant environmental art.
After graduating from Yixing Ceramic School, Wang Yaping 1976 devoted himself to the design of daily necessities and the creation of purple sand ceramic furnishings while teaching, and gradually formed his favorite creative form-drawing lessons from traditional calligraphy art, injecting modern abstract artistic elements, making full use of the texture of ceramic materials, and carrying out ceramic carving decoration with compatible artistic conception, showing the characteristics of massiness, beauty and general trend, and embodying the style of the times without departing from the national tradition. He believes that a good work will always be the fusion of the times, the nation and the individual spirit, and will always be the condensation of the creator's noble sentiments. He is full of confidence: "I will have better works in the next ten years." He said he had a lot to express and create.
