Joe: pen name woodcutter, originally from Anping County, Hebei Province, born in 1946, enlisted in the army in 1965, former deputy director of political department of PLA General Hospital, Normal University. Member of China Prose Association, member of China Prose Poetry Association, member of Beijing Calligraphers Association, president of Xinglin Painting and Calligraphy Institute. He has published a collection of essays, Liu Di, and a collection of poems, Colorful Snow, and edited reportage collections, such as Holding up the Blue Sky, Triumphal Glory, Xinglin Painting and Calligraphy, etc. The essay Gu Jing was selected as the Chinese textbook for the fifth grade of primary schools in China, and Snowflakes Purify the World and Dirt won awards in China. The poem Angel's Smile won the Military Literature Creation Award of the General Logistics Department. The lyrics "Apricot Blossom Rain" won the 9th China Population and Culture Award. His calligraphy works have participated in the painting and calligraphy exhibition held by the Military Museum, and he has collected many paintings and calligraphy works, from party and state leaders, provincial leaders to the masses, collecting his works of art and taking them to France, the United States, India, Japan and other countries.
