Li Demao has been passionate about calligraphy and painting since childhood and has been engaged in calligraphy and painting art for more than 30 years. He is good at writing poems and paintings, especially calligraphy and bamboo orchids. He also likes to paint landscapes, flowers and birds. Since the 1980s, his works represented by traditional Chinese painting ink and bamboo have participated in many national art exhibitions and won awards. He has been invited to paint for Zhongnanhai, the Great Hall of the People, the Bureau of Veteran Cadres of the Central Committee, and the People's Daily; some of his classic works have been exhibited by the State Council, the Central Military Commission, Chairman Mao Memorial Hall and collections of relevant provincial and municipal museums, academic institutions, government agencies, international friends, etc. Art museums and calligraphy and painting organizations in Europe, the United States, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan have also been invited to participate in exhibitions and collect for many times. After entering the 21st century, Mr. Li Demao focused on the creation and research of landscape ink and bamboo. His works are rigorous in composition and have both form and spirit. The ink is vigorous and straight, close to nature, grand in spirit, far-reaching and flexible in handwriting. It integrates the comprehensive art of ink bamboo, landscape, flowers and birds, forming a unique artistic style with vivid charm, strong integrity and grand momentum. Just like his name, which is based on virtue, he has both virtue and art, and a clear and prosperous rhyme. He is a powerful contemporary Chinese art master. In March 2009, he was commissioned by relevant national departments to create two-foot-long giant works "Splendid China News for Peace", "Chinese Festivals" and "China's Harmonious Festivals".
