What is Wuxi culture?

Wuxi culture is a regional culture created by Han, Dong, Miao, Yao, Tujia and other multi-ethnic people in Wuxi, and it is an important part of Huxiang culture.

Wuxi culture is dominated by "Shui Yuan Cultural Group". Judging from the recent archaeological discoveries in Xiangxi, the cultural history here is very long. The "Five Rivers Culture", including "Shui Yuan Culture Group", is mainly composed of Nuo culture (farming culture), witch culture (sacrifice culture), Pan Hu culture (minority culture), Chu culture (Chuci), Han culture (Confucianism culture) and Buddha culture.

Wuxi culture has a long history. Abundant prehistoric cultural remains have been found here, such as the Suwon Cultural Group, the Cloak Slope Site in Jingzhou, the Gaomiao Site in Hongjiang, and the Gaokanlongpo Site in Xinhuang. More than 600 pieces of lacquerware, pottery, jade and bronze ware were unearthed from Hou Wuyang's tomb of the Western Han Dynasty in Yuanling Lake, Shanxi Province, and more than 1,000 pieces of bamboo slips were a sensation, which was rated as one of the "Ten New Archaeological Discoveries in China" in that year.

On Wuxi Cultural Representatives

There were poets, dramatists Yang, essayists Xiang, calligraphers, inscriptions Huang Benji, educators Xie Guangchi and philosophers Yan Ruyu in Qing Dynasty.

During the Republic of China, there were great writers Shen Congwen, dramatist Xiang Peiliang, poets Huang Zhonghao, Zhu Xiang and Xie Zugan. Zhang, a Buddhist, is the author of the Outline of the Theory of the Master of Yoga.

After 1950s, painters and Li appeared. Poets Ke Yuan, Peter Long and Terry Shi; Novelists Liu Jianping, Cai Cehai, Sun Jianzhong, Wu Xuenao, Xiang Bengui and Wang Yuewen; Prose writer, Yan, Wang Puan; Playwright Shi Huangyuan; Children's writer He Xiaotong; Lyrics writer Long et al.
