Li Shangyin, the author of this poem, has no intention of praising the teacher. Later generations quoted it to praise the teacher's selfless dedication, conscientious, self-sacrifice and illuminating the noble sentiments of others. Compare silkworms and candles to teachers. There are many examples about the new usage of ancient poetry.
Li Shangyin's untitled poems are flowery in wording, elegant in allusion and lofty in conception. But whether these poems are love poems, epic poems, philosophical poems and political poems, I believe different people will have different interpretations in different moods.
Extended data
Li Shangyin's Untitled was originally about love.
Loving you is the infinite affection of "spring silkworms are spinning until they die, candles are crying every night, and the wick is drained".
The whole poem takes the word "farewell" as the full text eye, describes the pain of a pair of lovers leaving and their thoughts after leaving, and expresses the incomparable sincere feelings of acacia leaving. It is also said that this poem expresses the poet's political frustration and spiritual distress, with a strong sentimental color, and extremely writes the depth of sadness and sorrow.
