Up from stone valley, not far from water curtain cave, you will come to the stone carving of "Wan Wan Tian". On the west side of the road, you will see pieces of steep boulders standing in the sky, which looks quite like the long and narrow board held by the ministers in the ancient court when they met the emperor, so it is called "Wan Wan Tian Tian".
The rocks exposed here are medium-thin grained striped migmatized amphibolite plagioclase gneiss in Taishan Complex, and the main mineral components are plagioclase, Shi Ying and amphibole. At the same time, there are many grayish white stripes of feldspar and Shi Ying in the rocks.
under the action of tectonic force, when the strength of the rock is exceeded, the rock will break, and the most common one is a fracture without obvious displacement, which is called a joint or crack. According to the mechanical properties of joints, they can be divided into tension joints or shear joints. Tension joint is open, and the joint surface is rough and does not extend far. Shear joints are generally closed, and the joint surface is relatively smooth and extends far. According to the occurrence of joint surface, it can be divided into oblique, vertical and horizontal joints. Vertical joints often cut rocks into vertical columnar blocks with different geometric shapes, so they are also called columnar joints.
The hornblende plagioclase gneiss exposed here has well-developed vertical columnar joints. According to its occurrence, there are mainly three groups of joints in different directions, such as 6 NE, 15 NE and 315 NW. Their joint surfaces are almost vertical and smooth, belonging to a kind of shear joints, which are densely distributed and intersect with each other. Under the action of physical weathering, the rock is cut into vertical plates or columns. The ancients called the structural phenomenon of these vertical joints cutting rocks "ten thousand miles into the sky", which was somewhat exaggerated, but the image was vivid, and the metaphor was real and intriguing. Wang Keyu, a scholar, believes that the stone carving of Mount Tai is a precious stone carving, which describes the major historical theme of the imperial jade's meditation on Mount Tai and is of great significance to the meditation culture of Mount Tai. The stone carvings on Mount Tai can be said to play an inseparable and important role in the magnificent and handsome scenery of Mount Tai. They express their feelings of praise for Mount Tai with their exquisite calligraphy art and profound meanings of coldness and enthusiasm, richness and intuition, implication and abstinence. In the stone carvings of Mount Tai, besides those that chant the beauty of Mount Tai landscape, there are also some historical events related to the worship and worship of Mount Tai by emperors in past dynasties. Such as Emperor Qianlong's handwriting "Wei Tian Dong Zhu" and "Wan Wan Chao Tian". Among them, "Wan Wan Chao Tian" is a rare masterpiece describing the emperor's worship of Mount Tai. Located in the ravine above Wanxianlou, this stone carving is an authentic book, with a rigorous and clear style. The engraving date of this stone carving is unknown. According to the integrity analysis of the closing ceremony of Mount Tai and the closing ceremony of emperors in past dynasties, it will be after the Tang Dynasty, or later. Because at that time, the ceremony and content of closing the Mount Tai were relatively rich and perfect. The first word in the stone carving, "Wan", is a quantifier here, representing many; "Wat" refers to the hand board held by ancient officials during their pilgrimage, and its purpose is for the exclusive use of notes. "Chao" and "Tian" have two meanings, one is to visit the sacrificial ceremony, and the other is to describe the water board held by many officials facing the sky. The whole meaning of "Wan Wan Tian Tian" is that in the grand ceremony of closing Mount Tai, with drums and music singing, many officials held the water board in their hands devoutly, followed the emperor, climbed the Mount Tai step by step, closed Mount Tai, and appeared before the God of Mount Tai, hoping to achieve peace and prosperity.
The scene described in the stone carving "Wan Wan Chao Tian" is huge and magnificent, which describes such a grand ceremony and scene when Mount Tai was closed at that time. Looking at the stone carving seems to give people a sense of being in person.
