Brush writing is writing Chinese characters in China with a brush. The concept is very simple, the brush is a writing tool, and writing is Chinese characters. Then, Chinese characters using brush should also meet the following standards:
1. Write correctly, of course, the calligraphy is written correctly. If there is a typo, there may be a series of consequences; If there is a typo in a key place, it may lead to irreparable mistakes. Therefore, in writing brush strokes, correctness comes first.
2. Copying exercises should conform to the specifications of Chinese characters. After thousands of years of evolution, Chinese characters have formed a set of fixed writing patterns and requirements, and the generated strokes can only be accepted by people if they meet these patterns and requirements. The key to the standardization of stroke writing is to standardize the writing of strokes and the structure of shelves. Only by practicing the writing brush can it be impeccable.
3. If the beautiful brush font is standardized, that is, it meets the basic requirements of balanced and symmetrical aesthetics of Chinese characters, it can give people a sense of beauty. The beauty of brush font is inherent in Chinese characters: an independent Chinese character is a balanced and symmetrical whole, and balance and symmetry are the most basic elements in aesthetics. However, it should be noted that the aesthetic standard of brush calligraphy is not the standard of calligraphy font art, and the two cannot be confused. It is very important for scholars to clearly distinguish these two seemingly simple concepts. The main difference between them is that the art of calligraphy takes individuality first, followed by technology; Brush calligraphy is technology, and there is no personality factor in it. Many people who are not very clear about the concept of calligraphy art and strokes mistakenly think that writing is correct, standardized and beautiful, and they can write strokes of Yan Ti, Liu Ti or some other calligraphy font, which will reach the height of calligraphy art; I have been wandering in this circle for years, decades, even decades. When I am old, I write only words, which has nothing to do with calligraphy art. I can only be a writer at best.
