The Beijing Olympic Youth Camp is a large-scale youth cultural and educational exchange event under the Olympic banner. After active application by the National Youth Federation, the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee decided to entrust the National Youth Federation to organize the Beijing Olympic Youth Camp. According to the memorandum, the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee will entrust the All-China Youth Federation to organize youth camps for the Beijing Olympics. The youth camp will be held at the China International Youth Exchange Center from August 6 to 26, 2008, lasting 21 days. The total number of campers in this youth camp is expected to be 800, with campers aged between 16 and 18 years old. They are mainly composed of youth representatives from various IOC member states and regions as well as domestic youth representatives. This youth camp will also invite 50 representatives of young people with disabilities at home and abroad to participate. This is the first time in the history of the Olympic Youth Camp that young people with disabilities have been invited to participate in the Olympic Youth Camp.
This youth camp will have the theme of harmony, tolerance, identity, experience and creation, with the slogan "Youth Creates the Future", emphasizing the impact of youth innovative spirit on the future. The design of Olympic youth activities in the Beijing Olympic Games will follow international practices while highlighting Chinese characteristics. By then, campers will experience Olympic events first-hand and participate in Chinese historical and cultural activities. Such as watching the opening and closing ceremonies and sports competitions of the Olympic Games, selecting campers to participate in the Olympic Torch Relay, visiting the Olympic Village, etc.; experiencing Chinese history and culture is also an important part of the activity. At that time, the campers will participate in sightseeing and visits organized by the organizing committee activities, and participate in traditional Chinese culture classes such as martial arts, calligraphy, national crafts, and Chinese children’s games; the interactive communication and self-presentation between campers will deepen understanding and establish friendship among campers from various countries and regions.
