Guo Yueming’s biography

In 1966, 20-year-old Guo Yueming avoided the hustle and bustle of the world and began to indulge in Chuanrong culture and art, systematically studying calligraphy, painting, sculpture and seal cutting techniques. He drew on the strengths of many schools of thought and incorporated the charm of each genre, thus forming his own style of "calm and steely, well-groomed, solemn and aggressive".

In 1976, after 10 years of writing calligraphy with a brush and fountain pen, he turned to micro-calligraphy, micro-carving, and micro-engraving. After 16 years of exploration, he integrated Chinese qigong with Chinese painting, calligraphy, and lettering memory. In one furnace, micro calligraphy, micro carving, and micro engraving are integrated into one, which uniquely captures the charm of "subtle art". He is the first to hold up the wave of "subtle art" full of novelty and mystery in the sea of ????art.

In 1987, his first hard-pen calligraphy work, a small fan with micro calligraphy, was selected into the "China's First Hard-pen Calligraphy Works Exhibition in Japan" and was later added to the Japanese calligraphy collection.

In 1989, he wrote 6,183 Chinese characters with a pen on a 2.5 cm by 3 cm piece of paper, breaking the record of more than 2,000 Chinese characters written with a pencil on the back of a commemorative stamp (2.8 cm by 3 cm). The letters are therefore recorded by Emman Layop of Hungary, who is known as the "world's master of miniature calligraphy". In this work, under a magnifying glass more than ten times, the spacing between words and lines is clear, and the fonts are vigorous and clear. After the 1970s, with the development of convenient transportation and information technology, miniature carving artists from all over the world frequently interacted with each other to exchange skills and learn from each other's strengths. At the same time, they penetrated each other and communicated continuously in technology. The styles between them are gradually fading away, which is an inevitable trend.

The fine, neat and exquisite micro-carving technology is represented by the international micro-carving master Guo Yueming, so it is called Yueming micro-carving. Yueming micro-carving has the graceful and luxurious palace art style.

My teacher believes that subtle art is both valuable and difficult, because it is not only subtle, but also must reproduce the artistic spirit and charm in a smile. Every piece of fine art is successful based on the basic skills, and at the same time, it is also filled with hard work and sweat.

He hopes that our new generation of miniature sculpture artists can achieve success in their studies, but does not expect to be opportunistic in art and achieve success overnight; he hopes that his works will one day be recognized by the society, and he is ashamed to use kitsch works to Stealing fame and deceiving the world. To this day, he is still immersed in hard work in his small room, not knowing the morning and dusk, or the so-called winter and summer in the house; he keeps cultivating in the field full of vitality of fine art, regardless of the harvest, and does not care about personal fame and fortune. Indifferent and tranquil, he can endure loneliness; he is detached from others and endlessly searching for himself. This is the portrayal of Guo Yueming's artistic life.
