Shidao is located at the southeast end of Shandong Jiaodong Peninsula, near the Yellow Sea, and it is named after "the mountain faces the sea and there are stones everywhere". The main peak of Shidao is 339 meters above sea level and the coastline is 88 or 5 kilometers long. It faces Japan and South Korea across the sea, which is the closest place for Chinese mainland to South Korea. Shidao has Shidao Fishing Port, the largest fishing port in northern China, and Shidao Port, a national first-class open port.
