He entered a private school when he was young. He learned painting and calligraphy from his fourth uncle Puquan and his eighth uncle Puzuo. He also learned poetry and lyrics from Mr. Zhang Boju. He also learned calligraphy and painting from Mr. Fan Xiaofang. He was good at painting horses, eagles, goldfish, pine, bamboo, plum and orchid. , calligraphy is inherited from Zhao Mengfu.
