Introduction to Xue Yuanxi

Xue Yuanxi (1288-1345), whose courtesy name was Xuanqing, was named Shangqing Foreign History. A native of Guixi, Xinzhou (now part of Jiangxi Province) in the Yuan Dynasty. In the twelfth year of the year, he entered Longhu Mountain and studied under Zhang Liusun, the great master who founded the mansion, and Wu Quanjie, the great master. During the reign of Emperor Renzong of Yuan Dynasty, he had to be summoned to attend the temple. In the fourth year of Yanyou (1317), he taught Dadu Chongzhen Wanshou Gong Tidian, and Yuande Zhixu assisted Zhenren. In the seventh year (1320), he was promoted to Chongzhen Wanshou Palace. In the first year of Taiding (1324), he was ordered to conquer the Heavenly Master. When he arrived, he was ordered to live in the Qianyuan Palace in Zhenjiang. Before leaving, he followed Luanyang and returned to Longhu Terrace. He then resigned and returned to his hometown and built a house next to Longhu Terrace. Live in it. In the sixth year of the Yuan Dynasty (1340), an envoy from the Foreign Prime Minister's Department wrote a letter to welcome Abbot Youshengguan of Yuan Xi, but refused to say goodbye. In the third year of Zhizheng (1343), he was awarded the title of "Zhenren Hongwen Yude Chongren", the abbot of Yousheng Temple and the leader of all palaces in Hangzhou. Yuan Xi obeyed his orders and sent his disciple Chen Yanlun to take pictures of the incident, while he himself set high aspirations to lead far away. Yuan Xi was a clear, elegant and quiet person. He was knowledgeable and erudite, loved ancient calligraphy, and had a fluttering wind in his poetry. He died of illness in the fifth year of Zhizheng (1345) at the age of fifty-seven. He wrote several volumes of "Shangqing Collection", one volume of "Woodcutter's Questions", and compiled several volumes of "Qionglin Collection" by collecting poems and essays from various sages.
