First of all, seal script
Seal script is a kind of writing with a long history, which is divided into two categories: big seal script and small seal script. Dazhuan usually refers to the font style widely used in the late Western Zhou Dynasty, with thick lines, neat fat circles, symmetrical structure and simple and elegant temperament. Shi Guwen and Qin Gonggui are the representatives of Da Zhuan.
Small seal script is developed on the basis of big seal script, with more symmetrical lines and more standardized structure. The representative works of Xiao Zhuan include Stone Carving on Mount Tai by Qin Shihuang and Tiger Symbol by Yang Ling. After Qin Shihuang unified China, Xiao Zhuan became a popular character in China, which was the standard font of official documents at that time.
In the practical application of seal script, according to different occasions and uses, there are many variants, such as jade seal, iron seal, willow seal, Zhiying seal, square seal, heavenly seal, hanging needle, eating enough, cutting leaves, arranging stars and so on. These changes have their own characteristics and styles, some are dignified and beautiful, some are uniform in thickness, some are light and elegant, and each has its own merits. As an important calligraphy form in China, seal script has unique artistic charm and value.
It not only occupies an important position in calligraphy art, but also is a treasure of history and culture. Seal script has smooth, symmetrical and beautiful lines, rigorous, standardized and orderly structure, slender, beautiful and elegant fonts, which has high artistic appreciation value. At the same time, seal script is also one of the important materials for studying the ancient history and culture of China, which is of great significance for understanding the politics, economy and culture of ancient China.
Second, the characteristics of seal script
1, the brushwork of seal script is simple, and among all kinds of fonts, the brushwork of seal script is the simplest. In particular, Xiao Zhuan's strokes are of the same thickness, almost a pen heart, as straight as a jade column and as curved as iron.
2. The font is slightly longer. Seal script is an early Chinese character font, so it retains more pictographic elements than other fonts that appeared later. It is simple in nature, flexible in words, slender and changeable in shape, simpler and closer to nature.
3. The strokes of seal script are mainly circles, while the strokes of seal script are generally straight and arc-shaped. There are no sharp pens such as skimming, pinching, hooking and picking. When starting and closing the pen, the front is hidden, and many circles turn without folding.
