Cui Ruzhuo, China’s only living famous contemporary painter whose works have sold over 100 million yuan, was unveiled at the Beijing Poly Autumn Auction preview on the 16th.
It is reported that the current valuation of the painting is 180 million yuan, and there have been inquiries.
Cui Ruzhuo was born in Beijing in 1944. In his early years, he learned from masters such as Shi Tao, Bada Shanren, Wu Changshuo, and Fu Baoshi. Later, he became a disciple of the master of traditional Chinese painting Li Kuchan, and his calligraphy master was taught by the calligrapher Zheng Songxian.
As a representative painter of contemporary Chinese ink painting, he is world-renowned for his characteristic finger-ink and accumulated ink painting techniques.
His works have been collected by celebrities such as Reagan, Kissinger, Soong Meiling, Lee Kuan Yew, and I.M. Pei, as well as major museums and art galleries since the 1980s. There is also the "Cui Ruzhuo Art Museum" on the Izu Peninsula in Japan.
