Zhang Xu likes drinking. Every time I get drunk, I yell wildly, freely and endlessly. God helps others, which is called Zhang Dian. According to Li Zhao's Supplement to National History, Zhang Xu wrote cursive script after drinking every time. When writing, he shouted with a pen, dipped his head in ink and wrote with his hair. His "Fa Shu" is elegant and wonderful, full of different tastes, and even he was surprised when he woke up. This is probably an exaggeration.
It is a fact that Zhang Xu is addicted to alcohol. He often writes after drinking, and his cursive script is also perfect. Du Fu said in the Song of Drinking Eight Immortals: Three cups of grass in Zhang Xu, with their hats off, appeared before the princes and put pen to paper like a cloud.
"Three cups" means drinking, but actually it's not drinking three cups. The phrase "taking off his hat" depicts his madness when writing. The phrase "brush one's hair" describes the exquisiteness of his cursive script.
After Zhang Xu died, everyone missed him very much. For example, after Du Fu entered Shu, he was very sad to see Zhang Xu's ink, so he wrote a cursive script of Yang Jian in the temple for Zhang Xu to see. In the poem, he said: the Sri Lankan people are dead in the clouds, and the grass is secret. I am so annoyed and full of sadness when I see this. Gao Shi said in the poem "Give Zhang Jiuxu after Drunkenness": Xing Lai's book is self-sacred, and after drunkenness, his language is still clumsy. In his poem To Zhang Xu, Li Qi said: The top of the bed is called three or five times. Stars come to the wine wall like meteors. You can see how much you love Zhang Xu.
Zhang Xu's legacy, the most representative is Four Ancient Poems.
