Nangong high school Tongcheng school

Zhang Yuzhao, a famous scholar of Tongcheng School in the late Qing Dynasty, made great achievements in the study of ancient literature. His works include eight volumes of Lotus Pavilion Collection, five volumes of Lotus Pavilion Legacy and two volumes of Lotus Pavilion Legacy Poetry Collection. But it is his calligraphy art that has the greatest influence. His calligraphy is as famous as Kang Youwei, Zheng, and is called the four great calligraphers in modern times. Kang Youwei spoke highly of calligraphy in "Two Boats in Guangyi": "North and South monuments are flourishing, Deng Wanbo, Bao Shenbo, and books are the eternal heroes"; "There are four books in this dynasty, all of which set the ancient as a model, including Yi Tingzhou, Deng Wanbo and Liu Ye. In the state dynasty, his Confucian classics, naive prose and Ding 'an prose were all unique. I got his book, and I judged his pen: the middle must be folded, and the ink outside must be picked up; Turn to Teton, take the square as the circle; Falling must be implicit, with a circle as the square; Therefore, it is true to stay for the sharp pen, and it is also true to be clean for the ink. It is an enlightening brushwork. " "It's completely white. Zhang Jun is not only a school of Tang and Song Dynasties, but also a masterpiece. "Of course, some people don't agree with Kang Youwei's evaluation, and different people have different opinions. But Mr Zhang Yuzhao himself is full of confidence in his calligraphy. He once said, "My calligraphy is far better than that of the Tang Dynasty, and I will be there in 500 years. "I once fantasized about asking' upright masons' to carve their own words and hide them in the stone wall drilled under the Yellow Crane Tower in my hometown and pass them on to future generations.
