Wang Xizhi's experience in learning books

In the east of Linchuan county, there is a protruding highland, facing a stream, called Xincheng. Above the new town, there is a low-lying rectangular pool named "Mo Chi of Wang Xizhi". Legend has it that this is the place where Wang Xizhi studied when he was a child.

When Wang Xizhi was a child, he loved calligraphy very much and admired Zhang Zhi, a calligrapher in the Eastern Han Dynasty. He practiced calligraphy by this pool. Over time, the pool turned black. History books also say that Wang Xizhi "speaks slowly as a teenager, and people are not surprising", and his intelligence was not outstanding as a teenager. But since I studied calligraphy with Mrs. Wei at the age of seven, I have been able to persist in studying hard and practicing hard.

Wang Xizhi is not only practicing, but also thinking. According to legend, he practices calligraphy every day, and when he is tired, he rests by the pool, constantly trying to figure out the structure, shelf and momentum of the font. At that time, it was recorded in the literature that whenever this time, he scratched his skirt while thinking freely. After a long time, I cut my skirt.

There is another one-it is said that once Wang Xizhi was absorbed in practicing calligraphy in his study, buddhist nun sent him his favorite garlic paste and steamed bread and urged him to eat it several times, but Wang Xizhi did not even look up. Buddhist nun had no choice but to ask Wang Xizhi's mother to persuade him to eat in person. Unexpectedly, when Mrs. Wang went to the study, she found Wang Xizhi holding a steamed bread dipped in ink and sending it to her mouth. Seeing Wang Xizhi's hard work and rapid progress in calligraphy, Mrs. Wei, as the first teacher, was naturally very happy, and even said jealously that the child would make great achievements in the future and his reputation in calligraphy would be hidden by him.

With the growth of age and the broadening of horizons, Wang Xizhi is no longer satisfied with the reference of one monument and one post and the guidance of one or two teachers. He wants to learn from others and form his own style. On the basis of learning from the past and the present, Wang Xizhi changed the methods of flat seal and official script before the Jin Dynasty and created three kinds of fonts with personal style: elegant and chic running script, vigorous regular script and flying cursive script.

After Wang Xizhi became famous, he also taught his personal experience of studying hard and practicing hard to his son Wang Xianzhi, who also loved calligraphy. According to legend, when Wang Xianzhi began to copy his father's calligraphy, he asked his father what the secret was. However, Wang Xizhi pointed to eighteen water tanks in the yard and told him that the secret was in these tanks. When you finish writing these eighteen jars of water, you will naturally know where the secret is. Wang Xianzhi follows his father's instructions and takes water from the jar every day to grind ink and practice calligraphy. A few years later, he really used up eighteen cans of fruit. Wang Xianzhi's calligraphy has been greatly improved. Finally, he created Modern Grass with exquisite structure and beautiful font, and became a great master. Like his father, he was called "Two Kings" and "Little Sage".

In addition, we can see from the history books that Wang Xizhi is modest.

Cheng Yi and Wang Xizhi were contemporary calligraphers. They all became famous before Wang Xizhi, and they are all famous. Wang Xizhi's modesty can't keep up with them. Legend has it that Ji Liang once asked Wang Xizhi for a book, and Wang Xizhi replied: "(I) wing is there, how can this be faked!" According to Shi Shuo Xin Yu, when Jackson Yee was in Jingzhou, he didn't agree that people were actually learning Wang Xizhi's calligraphy style. He once said: "Children are cheap chickens, love wild owls, learn from the king, and I have to repay you." However, when I saw Wang Xizhi's "Extremely Smart Cao Zhang", I was convinced and wrote to Wang Xizhi, saying, "I used to have ten pieces of Cao, but I lost them when crossing the river. I often sigh that the wonderful traces will never disappear. " Suddenly I saw the first step to reply to my brother's letter, and I was radiant and returned to my previous views. "

The change of Yi Yi's attitude is a reflection of Wang Shu's constant climbing from one level to a higher level. Wang Xizhi can extricate himself from vulgarity and constantly surpass others and himself.

Wang Xizhi's calligraphy became better and better in his later years. Almost at the same time, Tao Hongjing, the most famous Taoist in China, once said, "Shao Yi has never been called in the book since Xing Wu. All good deeds are people who have benefited the economy and Yonghe for ten years. " Yu Lanqing also said: "The book Xi is strange from beginning to end and incomparable. This is the ultimate in its last few years. "

But all these are related to Wang Xizhi's struggle in his youth and his humble pioneering spirit.
