Read a book intensively every month. This month I read "The Beauty of Chinese Calligraphy" by Jiang Xun.
Once you read a book intensively, you will have a particularly solemn sense of ritual, including a pen, ruler, excerpt, and finding the most comfortable posture. You can neither lie down or sit casually, nor sit too upright.
Sitting on the sofa is perfect. Bend your legs and put the bookshelf on your legs. The journey of Chinese characters begins.
I only started to read Jiang Xun's writings in the past two years. I was first attracted by his detailed description of "Red Mansions". His gentle voice is the best lullaby before going to bed. For a while, I fell asleep with his voice and his detailed description of the Red Chamber every night.
In the preface to this book, he recalled the scene when he was a child, his father's big hand wrapped around Jiang Xun's small hand writing Chinese characters. When he was three or four years old, he could not hold the pen firmly, so he began to sit upright and practice calligraphy.
I am not as lucky as Jiang Xun, having a scholarly environment to support my childhood. I can’t remember the first time I learned to write, and no one told me.
When I was a child, the only way I explored Chinese characters was through the game of "Split Words", where I decomposed a Chinese character into as many other Chinese characters as possible and hid them in every corner of the yard - write them down with chalk and let other friends play with them. Find out. At that time, I had a lot of fun playing this game with my neighbor's friends. There are rules for games, and there are rules for Chinese characters.
Jiang Xun said,
It turns out that Chinese characters also hide such secrets.
If it were me in the past, I probably wouldn’t have felt too much when I saw this sentence. But after joining the calligraphy practice organization, I regarded calligraphy practice as an interesting and meaningful thing to do. , the perspective of looking at the problem is completely different.
Now when I see those interesting fonts on the streets, I go back and wonder how he wrote them. I will also compare whether this font looks better or which font has more taste.
Writing is best done alone. Only then can you truly feel your own heart, and only then can you be yourself. When alone, people tend to reveal their most sincere emotions.
Writing requires a quiet heart. Do you often feel like this? When you can't calm down, you feel like you can't write well no matter what. And when you really meditate and pay attention, you can write with verve in one go.
Writing has always been a matter of pleasure. When writing, it is best to isolate myself from the world and not let anyone disturb me.
Use the tip of your pen to feel the difference of each stroke, and use your heart to feel the charm of each word.
Writing is a wonderful thing. It can be fast art or slow art. There is beauty in speed, and there is skill in slowness.
I am infatuated with the mystery of cursive script and the dignity of block letters. Now I can't write well in both, but I can only write bit by bit, and I must not be eager for quick success.
A little anxiety will destroy not only a stroke, but an entire work. Why pursue that little bit of speed?
These are some insights I only gained after slowly writing.
