Xin Qiji, a famous patriotic poet in the Southern Song Dynasty, was named Jia Xuan. Before he was born, the Northern Song Dynasty was destroyed by the Jin people, and his hometown Licheng fell. So he was full of hatred for rulers of Jin Dynasty since he was a child. His grandfather Xinzan is a patriot with patriotic thoughts. He often educates and inspires his descendants not to forget the motherland, to have their own aspirations and to restore the Central Plains. Therefore, Xin Qiji was determined to drive away the invaders of the State of Jin from an early age and serve the country!

In A.D. 1 16 1, the ruler of the Jin Dynasty, Wan Yanliang, mobilized 400,000 troops to attack the Southern Song Dynasty in an attempt to destroy the regime of the Southern Song Dynasty. Heavy taxes and cruel plunder caused strong resistance from the people in the north, and people rebelled against the cruel rule of Xu Jin. The moment that Xin Qiji hoped for has finally arrived. He assembled a team of 2,000 people in his hometown and went to Geng Jing, the leader of the peasant uprising army at that time, with his friend monk Duan Yi. Geng Jing attached great importance to Xin Qiji, put him in charge of drafting military documents and invited him to plan the military together. Xin Qiji is very eager to go into battle to kill the enemy one day. Therefore, when he was free, he studied hard on horseback riding and archery, and even at night, he often danced with knives and swords in the moonlight, and finally learned a skill.

At that time, Geng Jing's army had 250,000 people, spread over hundreds of miles. One day, Xin Qiji followed Geng Jing to inspect the troops. He looked around and saw that the military accounts were dotted and continuous, which was very spectacular. After the parade, Geng Jing ordered the slaughter of pigs and cows as a reward for all soldiers. At that time, the smell of barbecue wafted from the Yuan Ye, and the cheerful rebel soldiers plucked the strings and made a generous lament. Xin Qiji was deeply moved by this scene.

Soon, the rulers of the Jin Dynasty, after stabilizing the domestic situation, mobilized troops to suppress the rebellion in Geng Jing. Facing the pressure of the enemy's presence in the mirror, Xin Qiji, considering that the rebel army had no consolidated defense and it was difficult to stop the attack of nomadic people, persuaded Geng Jing to lead the army to submit to the Southern Song Dynasty. Geng Jing listened to his suggestion and sent him and General Jia Rui to Jiankang (now Nanjing, Jiangsu) to meet Song Gaozong Zhao Gou who was inspecting the army. Emperor Gaozong was very happy to see them. He immediately awarded them official titles and sent officials to accompany them to meet the rebels returning to the south.

Unexpectedly, when they returned to Shandong, there was a mutiny inside the rebel army. The rebel general Zhang Anguo and others assassinated Geng Jing and surrendered the nomads from the army. At that time, more than 200,000 rebels lost their leaders, and their morale was suddenly shaken. Xin and Jia broke up before they returned to the barracks. Xin Qiji was very sad to see his wife's indifference after the rebellion broke out, and he was determined to punish the traitor severely and avenge Geng Jing. So he rushed to Haizhou, called Wang Shilong, Ma Quanfu and other 50 strong men, and rode fast to Nomads from the camp. At this time, Zhang Anguo was drinking with the generals in the camp. Xin Qiji and other strong men seemed to fall from the sky, forced Jinjiang with swords, bound traitors and flew out of the camp. When the generals woke up and sent his troops to catch up, Xin Qiji and others had already run away without a trace. They took Zhang Anguo and others to the Southern Song Dynasty without stopping, and then escorted the traitors to Lin 'an to be beheaded.

Since then, Xin Qiji has been living in Lin 'an City. He hoped that Zhao Gou would let him serve in the front line in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, but he was not appointed. One day, when he went upstairs and looked out, he suddenly saw someone riding a horse. This man named Chen Liang was also a famous patriot at that time. He is bold and talented. After hearing about Xin Qiji's brave punishment of traitors, he came to visit. The two hit it off as soon as they met, and they talked until late at night before breaking up reluctantly.

A few days later, Xin Qiji was appointed as the signing judge of Jiangyin. Before he left, he wanted to invite Chen Jialai to talk about it, but he sent someone to look for it several times, but he couldn't find it. He had to leave Lin 'an to take office in Jiangyin with regret.

More than ten years later, Xin Qiji was promoted as an envoy of Jiangxi Province because of his outstanding talent and outstanding achievements. Although he was promoted, his ambition to recover the Central Plains was never realized because of the national policy of humiliating peace with gold in the Southern Song Dynasty. Every time he thinks about it, he always feels depressed.

One day, Chen Liang, who had been away for a long time, came to the yamen of Anfu. Chen Liang was excluded by those in power. No official position. Xin Qiji was very happy when he saw it. He welcomed him into the mansion, set out wine for the wind, and talked about the farewell scene. After three rounds of drinking, Xin Qiji poured out his dissatisfaction with Gou 'an, the ruler of the Southern Song Dynasty, to the cat. He said:

"Lin 'an is not the place where the emperor made his capital. If Niutoushan is cut off, world reinforcements will not be able to enter; If the West Lake is definitely opened, the whole city's soldiers and civilians will be drowned, and there is only one dead end! "

Xin Qiji became more and more angry and his words became more and more fierce. Even the unscrupulous Chen family felt that they had let slip. After the banquet, Xin Qiji was as drunk as a fiddler and was sent back to his room to rest, while the cat was put to sleep in the study.

In the evening, Cat was lying in bed, trouble sleeping. Although he felt Xin Qiji's generous hospitality, after all, it was just two sides, and he didn't know much about it. Xin Qiji is already the head of a county at this time. If he finds out that he made a slip of the tongue after drinking in the morning, he will probably commit suicide. So he immediately got out of bed, walked softly to the stable, stole a good horse and fled back to his hometown Yongkang overnight.

The next day, Xin Qiji just woke up, and the servant reported to him that the steed had disappeared, and Chen Liang left without saying goodbye. Xin Qiji was taken aback at first, but he soon anticipated the reason why it happened. He quietly asked the servant to bring pen and paper, wrote a song "Duaner", and sent someone to Yongkang to give it to the cat:

In the poem, Xin Qiji vividly describes his own battle course, hoping that Chen Liang can understand himself. When Chen Liang saw this word, he completely eliminated his worries. The two became friends of life and death, and became a story in the history of literature.
