Mr. Jiang Shiyun was born in Penang Island, Malaysia in 1921. His ancestral home is Zijin County, Guangdong. He has lived in Shaoguan all year round. He is a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association and is especially famous in the calligraphy world for his Zhangcao. When Chiang was young, he never formally studied with a teacher because of his poor family. He relied on his own diligent study over many years, the most important of which was Lin Tie. After years of perseverance, he finally achieved success. His works have been selected into the second, third, fourth and fifth National Book Fairs and won awards. In 1999, Mr. Jiang won the 6th Lu Xun Literary Award of Guangdong Province; in 2004, he won the 13th National (Calligraphy Senior Group) "Stars Award" issued by the Chinese Ministry of Culture; in 2009, Mr. Jiang won the first Shaoguan "Demeanor Literature and Art Award" award".
