How do children make their own lanterns for the Lantern Festival?

1. Make the skeleton. The simple shapes of paper lanterns are cubes or cylinders. It is best to choose bamboo branches or bamboo skins that can be bent into a frame, and the connections should be wrapped with fine mesh. If it's hard to find, use long, thin strips of cardboard and bamboo skewers for grilling. Neither strong nor flexible, but also a great interior decoration.

2. Make the lamp body. Buy some white, red and white ordinary rice paper or sprinkle with gold rice paper at the Sibao Shop in the study, cut it into the length and width of the lantern frame, and then you can design your own pattern. Calligraphy, painting and paper cutting can all be displayed on a small lantern. After pasting, you can also use narrow imitation silk paper on the upper and lower edges to make it look more elegant, like an ancient palace lantern.

Use a piece of tissue paper to write the words to be written on the pillar, then overlap the tissue paper with the dark red rice paper, and then dig out the writing with a single blade. Take off the paper towel and there will be hollow words on the red rice paper. The lamp body is made of white paper. Red rice paper is taped inside. Candlelight or lights are reflected from the cutouts. The effect is quite beautiful.

3. Make a light source. If you put it indoors, you only need to light an ordinary candle in the lantern; if you want to do it, it is best to make a simple circuit with a light bulb and a battery.
