The so-called son of heaven suddenly sanctified the ordinary Chinese characters connected with it. Chang 'e, which we are familiar with now, was changed from Heng E to avoid the taboo of China Emperor Liu Heng. The appearance of Li Shimin during the reign of Emperor Taizong changed the word "people" into "people" in countless articles in the Tang Dynasty, and Liu Zongyuan wrote such a nondescript statement as "raising people" (see "The Biography of Planting Camels"). At that time, people's understanding was that it was better to be unclear and unreasonable than to care about it.
Sometimes it's ridiculous to avoid homophones. For example, Li He, a famous poet in the Tang Dynasty, because his father's name is Li Jinsu, "Jin" is homophonic with "Jin" of Jinshi, so he can't be tried by Jinshi for life. There is also a man named Yuan Deyi, who is reluctant to eat cakes because of his father's name, and "Gao" and "Gao" are homophones. What's more, Song Gaozong's name is Zhao Gou. In order to avoid taboo, he even banned more than 50 homophones such as Zu, Gou and Gou.
If you accidentally violate the taboo, you will be scolded if you are light, and you will lose your life if you are heavy. In the cruel literary inquisition of Ming and Qing dynasties, there are many such examples.
But in the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties, it was a different scene. People don't seem to care much about taboos. For example, Cao Song, Cao Cao's father, is the adopted son of eunuch Cao Teng, Cao Teng's father is Cao Jie, and Cao Cao's daughter, who is the queen of Emperor Xian of Han Dynasty, is also called Cao Jie, which is not taboo. Of course, we can say that the Cao family was unconventional, or that the Wei and Jin dynasties had a certain demeanor, but at that time, there were quite a few things that made fun of each other with respect and taboos.
A story is recorded in Shi Shuo Xin Yu Pai Diao:
"Liu Yilong and two cars, Chen * * * called clock full, which is Zhu Xiaohong's car. Compared with it, it is far from it. As soon as I arrived, I smiled: Why did you meet someone so late? Watching Qing go away. Will answer: correct and practical, why should we be in a group? The second question meeting of emperor: what is Gao? A: Although I am not as good as Yao Shun, I can't catch up with last week and Confucius, and I am also a scholar for a while. "
Zhong Hui's father, Zhong You, a famous calligrapher in the Three Kingdoms period, is homophonic with Yao. Si Mazhao deliberately violated his father's taboo in order to mock Zhong Hui. And Zhong Hui is not to be outdone. Si Mazhao's father is Sima Yi, and his car companions Chen Qian and Chen Tai's fathers are Chen Jiao and Chen Qun respectively. Chen Tai's grandfather Chen Ao said, "Why do you need to be in a group when it is right?" In short, all the family members conveyed it.
There is another version of this story, which is about Zhong Hui's brother Yu Zhong, and his opponent becomes Si Mazhao's brother Sima Shi. The content is simpler, but in fact it is much the same:
"Yu Zhong Huang Menlang, alert and clinking, sitting next to King Jing. When Chen Qunzi Xuanbo and Wu were sitting together, King Jing said, What does Gao look like? Right: Ancient Yi Shi. Gu said that Xuan Bohe said, "A gentleman is not like Zhou, but a group is not like a party. "
Obviously, one of the stories is a variation of another. Anyway, I can see that rumors about this subject were very popular at that time. Of course, if you joke about other people's ancestors, you should also look at the target clearly. It is better to have fewer strangers, otherwise it will only aggravate each other's dislike.
The word dragon is not taboo unless the emperor of the dynasty or his parents and elders have the word dragon in their font size to avoid it. Yu Shilong's original name was Yu Chenglong.
