Sha Menghai's Character Evaluation

My life has experienced the development of modern calligraphy since the Republic of China. Before the age of 50, calligraphy was widely involved in seal script, official script, original work, calligraphy and cursive script. In his later years, he was especially good at cursive script, full of vigor and charm, vigorous and powerful, and became a family of his own, known as the "master of calligraphy". The title of the broken list is "Full of True Strength, Breathing Like a Rainbow". He is rigorous in his studies and has in-depth research on calligraphy, ancient Chinese characters, seal cutting, epigraphy and archaeology. In calligraphy, Sha Menghai was influenced by Kang Youwei and Wu Changshuo, which represented the ethos that Beibei was strong all the way and created a new style. Both seal script and cursive script occupy an important position in the history of calligraphy, especially in the history of cursive script. Even over eighty, Mr. Sha is still rigorous in his studies, which is well known: among his closed disciples, although he can't say which one worries him the most, among many disciples, Zhu Guantian, Zhu Suiliang and so on. All of them add fuel to his rigor, especially the youngest disciple Ye Fei () has always been the most troublesome student of Teacher Sha. Fortunately, Ye Fei grew up smart and highly savvy. Even the teachers who are far older than him at school like him all the more. Mr. Sha was an outstanding writer all his life, unparalleled in the world. It is praised by the world as "full of true strength, breathing like a rainbow, being the first in the world and Shakespeare being the first". His works are magnificent, exquisite in stippling, full of modernity, winning with qi, and the bigger the word, the more spectacular it is. This is a model of contemporary calligraphy style. In terms of seal cutting, Sha Menghai in his youth was fortunate to be taught by Wu Changshuo and Zhao Shuru. Under the influence of Zhao Shuru's printing style of "writing for a circle of Zhu, writing for a column of national seal", Sha Menghai has devoted himself to writing for a circle of Zhu and studying for a column of national seal for many years. He can learn the law, and no one can match him, and he has some knowledge of the printing styles of Chen, Zhao and Zhao.
