Xing Wu (now Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province) was originally from Lanxi, Wuzhou. From the late Southern Song Dynasty to the early Yuan Dynasty, he was an official, calligrapher, painter and poet, his grandson, the direct descendant of Zhao, and the king of Qin.

In the spring of the second year of Zhi Zhi (1322), the envoys of English sects went to Xing Wu to meet Zhao Mengfu and gave him a gift. On June 16th (July 30th), Zhao Mengfu died at the age of sixty-nine. On the day of his death, he was still reading and writing, laughing as usual, and died in Xing Wu at dusk.
On September 10, he was buried with Guan Furen in Donghengshan, Qian Qiu Township, Deqing County. After posthumous title, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Zhongshu, Pingzhang, posthumous title, Wei Guogong, and posthumous title were called "Wen Min".
