Moderator: Audience friends, in the first two programs, we have learned some methods and identification methods of painting and calligraphy forgery. Do you know what a bluff is and what an inscription deceives the world? Today, we will continue to explore ways to crack the forgery of calligraphy and painting. At the beginning of the program, let's look at a real case.
In the early summer of 2002, the news of "the legacy of Shilu shocked the town" attracted the attention of the world. Shi Lu, a famous contemporary painter in China and one of the founders of Chang 'an Painting School, enjoys a high status at home and abroad and is praised by western collectors as "Van Gogh of China". Therefore, the news of finding his legacy soon caused an uproar in Beijing, Xi and other places, especially in the painting and calligraphy circles. Then, "Exhibition of Famous Works" and "Seminar of Famous Works" were held in Beijing with great fanfare. A group of well-known experts from the appraisal and art circles participated in it and praised the paintings. Some of them also happily wrote inscriptions, which enabled these paintings to enter the market smoothly, and the prices kept rising, and the holders of the paintings made a profit of tens of millions of yuan.
Moderator: Wow, tens of millions, this is not a small sum. It seems to be a booming thing in the art market, but who would have thought it was a big lie carefully planned by counterfeiters?
After three years of hard investigation, the public security organs finally exposed the first case of domestic painting and calligraphy fraud to the world. It turned out that counterfeiters took a fancy to the "business opportunities" where celebrity calligraphy and painting can make a lot of money, so they planned a scam. They copied the master's works first, and then colluded with others to disclose the news that the master's heritage was discovered in the town to the media, making up a seemingly reasonable reason for the emergence of the heritage. It is said that the painter knew the fallen master in his early years and took care of his daily life for more than a few years. The master is a brave man. In order to show his gratitude, he often draws pictures and generously gives gifts to Li. In this way, in a few years, he saved dozens of master paintings. While spreading the news, counterfeiters also carried out various activities, invited famous inscriptions, publicized them, and successfully held a series of activities such as masterpieces exhibitions. After being recognized by all parties, counterfeiters were overjoyed and ran around, and began to sell fake paintings without fear, making huge profits from them.
Moderator: This is an elaborate scam. You see, he first asked someone to copy it, then spread false news, fabricated reasons, asked experts to add inscriptions, held seminars, and finally sold it at a high price for profit. It can be said that it is a one-stop scam. After the story is finished, you still need to analyze it, learn how to see through it and improve your ability to distinguish. Today, our studio invited Mr. Jin Yunchang from the Gu Shuhua Department of the Palace Museum. Hello, Mr. Kim. Welcome to the studio. We just talked about a case of Shi Lu's legacy. Let's not talk about that for the time being, because our purpose is to crack some counterfeiters' means, so I have prepared a painting for everyone to see today.
Expert: A horse.
Moderator: How about it? Not good?
Expert: Not so good.
Moderator: It's not good to throw cold water as soon as you come up. Why not?
Expert: I think it was written by Boyi Ma Jin, a master of horse painting in modern times. He inherited this animal painting method from the Qing court, that is, Lang Shining, and it is very mature. This horse is only somewhat similar to Ma Jin's works in shape. Then, its rough drawing technique is very simple and rough, and the proportion is very weak. So, it's weak.
Moderator: Your analysis means that it is definitely not Ma Jin's original work. What about Ma Jin and his painting style? Let's get to know it through a small clip first.
Ma Jin is a famous painter and calligrapher in modern China, (1899- 1970), whose pen names are Ma Zhanru and Ma Boyi, from Beijing. My father used to manage horses for a Manchu nobleman, so he loved drawing horses since he was a child. 1920 joined the Chinese Painting Research Association, studied painting under Jinbeilou and Chen Shiceng, and made great progress in painting, and studied under Lang Shining.
Moderator: Ma Jin, surnamed Ma, you see his father is in charge of horses. then what He likes to draw horses by himself. It can be said that Ma Jin and Matt are predestined friends. But Mr. Jin said at a glance that this was not Ma Jin's horse. Can you specifically analyze why it is not Ma Jin's horse, or what means the counterfeiters used to deceive us?
Expert: I analyze this matter like this. Judging from the position of this horse, generally speaking, this horse is drawn in the center of the frame, but this horse, you see, has deviated from the center line and it has gone this way. The space here is big, but the space here is small. Both sides of this composition are blank and white, and there are some problems and imbalances. So why is this happening? Maybe this is the work of a painting student, so it is understandable to be immature. Then people may have their own Zhang San paintings, Li Si paintings or Ma Jin's Zhang San and Li Si are studying in Ma Jin, right? If there is such a sum of money, people may leave it here and take it out. Of course, if you don't have to cut it, you can also dig a hole in China's rice paper. Scrape the money with a knife. If the rice paper is thick, you can scrape it off with a knife. This is called scraping money. It's possible, but scraping money and digging money are easy to leave some traces. Therefore, it is better to cut off the money by cutting it. However, cutting money is easy to make the proportion of frames unbalanced, which leads to this. So, he must add his fake money here. Generally speaking, yes.
