But there are still some merits. Reading is like this. We don't need to read through the whole book, take its essence and discard its dross. Even if a 200-page book turns out to be only two pages useful and interesting, that's something to be happy about.
The book is divided into four parts: speed reading skills, intensive reading skills, book selection skills and reading output.
The first part is about how to read quickly. Among the methods mentioned by the author, these four are more useful:
1, open the book and summarize the contents of the book for 5 minutes.
First of all, read the title of the book. For example, the title of this book is Super Reading.
Then look at the cover. There is a sentence on the cover "A book, all the skills of reading get√", and then four skills are listed below: speed reading skills, intensive reading skills, book selection skills and reading output.
Finally, browse the directory. Grasp the contents of the book as a whole.
Title → cover → table of contents. We can probably know how to read this book from four aspects: fast reading, intensive reading, book selection and output.
2. Read the "reverse reading method" from the end of the book and quickly grasp the main points.
Practical books have a similar structure:
The first chapter is about "so far, everyone may think so."
The third and fourth chapters are the key contents.
The most important conclusion is in the last chapter.
So when reading, read the last chapter first, and you can know the most important point of this book.
3. "Twenty percent Reading Method"
Many people have heard of the 28 rule. Of everything, only 20% is important, and the other 80% is secondary, although it accounts for the majority.
The same is true of reading. Take time to read the 20% key content carefully. Others skip quickly and don't even look.
4, "searchlight mode", look for keywords while watching.
Imagine your eyes are searchlights. When browsing the contents and covers, lock five or six keywords in your mind and mark them. When reading the full text, keep your eyes on these keywords.
The second part is about how to read a book intensively.
1, the essence of intensive reading is recitation.
The author attaches great importance to recitation. Words mean that they naturally enter your brain by reading aloud.
But I think it depends on my personal preference whether to recite aloud or to meditate word by word in my mind.
For example, I read Pillow Grass written by Qing Shaoran, a collection of essays in Heian period in Japan. Zhou Zuoren's translation is affectionate and interesting. It's nice to meditate slowly in your mind. Let me show you an excerpt:
"Spring is the best time to break dawn. There is a light on the top of the mountain that is turning white, and purple clouds pass slightly. [This is very interesting. ]
Summer is night [the best]. Needless to say, when there is a moon, fireflies fly around in the dark, which is also very interesting. At that time, even the rain was interesting.
Autumn is evening [the best]. The setting sun is shining brilliantly. When it is close to the hillside, the crows are going home, so they fly together, four or two, which is also very interesting. And there are more geese flying in the team, and then it becomes very small and interesting. At the end of the day, the sound of the wind and the singing of insects are also very interesting. "
It's really suitable for weekend nights, sitting on the sofa, playing some light music, listening and watching in your mind.
2. [Three-color ballpoint pen method]
Red pen, draw a very important part.
Blue pen, draw the more important part.
Green pen, what do you find interesting?
"Use a green ballpoint pen, because the nerves that find interesting things inside your body are mobilized. Reading that can't stimulate your nerves must be boring. Therefore, you should pay more attention to the use of green ballpoint pens. "
The author also mentioned that there is no need to stick to these three colors. If you think one color suits you best, that's all right.
The third part is about how to choose books.
The author mentioned the way of "snowballing". This means that if you like an author's books, you should collect all the books of that author.
In addition, make a list of the books you have read. List format: author+title+your feelings
Every time I see a book, sum it up in a few hundred words. What is this book about? What are its characteristics? Why does it impress you? This is similar to "one line of essence, one line of comments" mentioned in "A Quick Reading of the History of Indun Town".
As for the fourth part, there are not many dry goods about reading output, which is a cliche.
For example, introduce the books you have read to your friends and increase your talk. Or improve their ability to express themselves in the workplace, and so on.
Generally speaking, there are only about two chapters worth reading. I think the more valuable ones are "reverse calculation reading method" and "20% reading method"
