There are many humorous, ridiculous and funny things in the ancient books of our country, such as Waiting for the Rabbit, Pulling out the Seedling, Carving a Boat for a Sword and so on, which we have always regarded as fables, which can actually be classified as jokes. However, they are scattered only sporadically in the vast forest of books, and the rest are probably basically circulated orally, and no one has merged them.
It was about the time of Wei Chu in the late Han Dynasty that our country had the first collection of jokes, that is, Laughing Forest. Its author, Han Danchun, has no special biography in the history books, but we can learn a lot about him from the notes of The History of the Later Han Dynasty, The Biography of the Three Kingdoms, Wei Zhi and Wang Can, and the materials about calligraphy in later generations.
