Gansu province. Yangguan, located in Nanhu Township, 70 kilometers southwest of Dunhuang City, Gansu Province, is named Yangguan because it is south of Yumenguan. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty opened up Hexi, one of the two passes of "listing four counties and passing two passes", which was an important pass at the western end of Hexi Corridor when Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty was in power. Since ancient times, it has been the only way for the Silk Road to go west out of Dunhuang and the gateway to the western border. Xuanzang became a monk, learned from India and returned to Chang 'an from the southern foot of Tianshan Mountain. Yangguan was founded in the third year of Emperor Ding Yuan (BC 1 14), with a history of more than 2,000 years. In order to resist the Huns in Nanchang and manage the western regions, the Western Han Dynasty set up four counties in Hexi Corridor: Wuwei, Zhangye, Jiuquan and Dunhuang, and established Yangguan and Yumenguan. Since then, as the gateway to the western regions and the only way to the south of the Silk Road, Yangguan has an extremely important strategic position. Since the Western Han Dynasty, successive dynasties have taken this place as a military stronghold and sent troops to guard it. How many soldiers fought here; How many businessmen, monks, envoys and tourists have passed through here; How many literati and poets have sighed at Yangguan for thousands of times.
