Bo (Pinyin: bó) is a first-class standardized Chinese character (commonly used word), which first appeared in the bronze inscriptions of the Western Zhou Dynasty. .
The original meaning is generally considered to mean big; Extension refers to richness and breadth, such as profundity; It also refers to extensiveness and universality, such as: Expo; It also refers to knowing in detail and knowing a lot, such as: learning from ancient times to the present; It also refers to an ancient board game, and later refers to taking property as a bet to win or lose.
The original meaning is fighting, and richness is the guise of meaning. But in fact, "Bo" is rarely used to mean fighting. In modern Chinese, "Bo" cannot be used universally with "Bo".
"Bo" only appeared in the late Zhou Dynasty, and some configurations are the same as those in modern times, as shown in figure1; Some are contrary to modern times, with "demand" on the left and "ten" on the right. By the stage of Xiao Zhuan, the "ten" has moved to the left of the word. The second half of Mao was originally "being", but it became "being" in Biography. Later, Xiao Zhuan was used as the basic script and developed into Han Li and regular script.
"Bo" basically means "big". It also means "wide". Further extension means "more" and "richer". Such as "extensive and profound", "knowledgeable", "vast territory and abundant resources" and so on. The meaning of "Bo" mainly works around a wide range of knowledge, experience, knowledge and methods.
In later generations, "Bo" also means "gambling", which comes from "mountain". The original meaning of "Geng" refers to an ancient game, namely "local opera". "Notes on Explaining Chinese Characters": "Bang, bureau play, six chopsticks and twelve chess.
From bamboo, Dr. "In ancient books, you can use' praise' and' bo' for leave. Duan Yucai's Notes on Explaining Characters in Shuowen: "Praise, there are many false words in the classics." In other words, the word "Zan" which means "local drama" is often written as "Bo" in ancient books.
In this way, "Bo" can mean "local drama". Gambling is often inseparable from games. People often gamble with games, and so do the ancients. They often gamble with local games. So "Bo" was later extended from "local opera" to "gambling".
