The grotto garden was originally the former residence of Hu Bangzuo, a doctor of punishments in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty. In the Qing Dynasty, Chen Zhaoluan (magistrate in Shunzhi period of Qing Dynasty) and Guo (governor of Zhili in Guangze period) lived here successively. The main hall is Shiwu Caotang, and the door is carved in Ming Dynasty, inscribed with the words "Numerous Worshipping Caotang in Qingshan Mountain" by Chen Jieqi, a famous stele engraver in Qing Dynasty.
