Jinnong Li Shu

Jinnong (1687- 1763)

Renhe (now Hangzhou, Zhejiang) lived in Yangzhou for a long time and was one of the eight eccentrics in Yangzhou.

Formerly known as sinong, the word Shoutian; After the age of 39, it was renamed as a farmer and changed to the word gatekeeper. Zhai Guan has many different names in his life, including Mr. Dong Xin, Jianghu Weng, Jinniu Lake Shilao, Jushi, Zhuquan, Qujiang Scholar, Missing Mountain Man, Lotus Body Jushi, Longling Xianke, Shame Spring Pavilion curator, Taoist, Jin and Sufaluo (Buddhists). I studied at He Chao's home in my early years and met Ding Jing. He is curious and studious, specializing in poetry and calligraphy. Poetry is quaint and peculiar, and he is good at distinguishing. He has a collection of thousands of volumes of epigraphy and is good at traveling. In the first year of Qianlong (1735), I failed to recommend learning words and returned to Beijing without trying. Later, he lived in Zhu San Temple and West Temple in Yangzhou for a long time by selling paintings until he died of old age and was poor all his life.

Jin Nong didn't think of calligraphy at first, but his calligraphy attainments have become one of the highest achievements among the "Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou", especially his running script and official script, which have wonderful and unique aesthetic value. In the early years, the official script was "sticking to the Chinese rope ink", with regular brushwork, rough strokes, tight structure, more restrained posture and less outward expansion, and simple and concise style. However, after he became famous at the age of 50, he deliberately created a kind of "thirst for writing eight points", which combined Han Li and Wei Jie, and was called. Jin Nong's cursive script is different from others from the early days, but the cursive script written by the method of tablet inscription and his own "lacquer script" is frank and free, and the brushwork is mellow and rough, revealing innocent and clumsy interest, which is amazing; Its regular script of "writing classics and seal cutting" seems to come down in one continuous line with folk calligraphy. There are no light and heavy lines and round pens, and there is no Teton wave pick. The lines are uniform, the square turns hard, and the calligraphy style similar to single-line artistic characters is as old as organ-shaped characters. His calligraphy has far-reaching enlightenment significance.

He began to learn painting at the age of 50. Because of his profound knowledge, numerous browsing records and profound calligraphy foundation, he eventually became a good family. His painting style is quaint, and he is good at sketching flowers with light ink and dry pen. Painting bamboo, horses, Buddha statues and plums is one of the "Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou".
