The establishment history of Yanshi Senior High School in Henan Province

In 1928, Yanshi Senior High School was established. Its predecessor was the Yanshi Normal Training Institute founded in 1928 and the Yanshi Middle School established on this basis in 1931.

In 1944, the Japanese invaded western Henan and the school was closed. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War in 1945, it reopened in a pawnshop in the old city.

In March 1948, Yanshi was liberated. In August, Yanshi United Middle School was established. The school was located at the current Municipal Party Committee Guest House. In 1949, it was renamed Yanshi No. 1 Middle School and a high school class was added. It was named Yanshi High School. prototype. Seniors Shi Jingtao, Zhang Qu, Niu Xiusheng and others have made outstanding contributions to the recovery and development of the school.

In the autumn of 1954, the school was divided into junior high school and high school. The high school department moved to a new location (formerly the 538 Factory of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications) and officially used its current name: Henan Yanshi Senior High School. In 1955, it was identified as one of the first batch of key high schools in Henan Province (5 in the province). In 1959, the school was identified as one of the 14 key middle schools in Henan Province one. Most of the graduates enter colleges and universities for further studies and become the backbone of national construction. Among them are generals, scholars, and experts, such as Zhang Hai, the current chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, Wang Kemin, an expert who has made outstanding contributions to China's "two bombs and one satellite", and the famous writer Ji Xuepei. In 1978, with the reform and opening up, Yanshi High School was restored and rebuilt. In September 1980, it moved to the site of the original Henan Xi Agricultural College. The three-year system was restored from the 1983 class, and the 18-class system was restored from the 1985 class. In 1992, the school added a preparatory class for higher education, enrolling students from the second district of nine counties (cities) in Luoyang, and the school scale transitioned to a third-level with 24 classes. In the early days of the resumption of school, teachers and students inherited the glorious tradition of "Lao Yan Gao", cheered up their spirits, worked hard, and worked hand in hand to rebuild the campus. The 1979 College Entrance Examination ranked among the best in the province and became one of the 24 key high schools in Henan Province that year. Since then, Yanshi High School has entered a new period of development. It has won provincial first prizes in subject competitions, and the number of people who have passed the college entrance examination to the provincial college entrance examination has increased every year, ranking first among all counties (cities) in Luoyang. Every year, candidates enter prestigious universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, and the University of Science and Technology of China. Li Nianzhen, who won the first place in the Henan Provincial College Entrance Examination in 1992, and Wei Lixiang, who won the first place in the Henan Provincial Mathematics Competition in 1989, are among the best.

At the end of 1994, Yanshi High School, as a representative of key high schools in rural provinces, accepted the supervision and evaluation of the expert evaluation team of the Henan Provincial Education Commission, and gave Yanshi High School a high evaluation. In view of the relatively lagging school conditions at that time, the expert group also put forward suggestions for improvement. After scientific verification, the first phase expansion project of Yanshi High School came into being with a total investment of more than 24 million yuan. After the completion of the project, the teaching building, science and technology laboratory building, library, administrative office building and lecture theaters will be available. The laboratory is equipped with first-class equipment according to the national standard, and the reading room is complete with books, newspapers and magazines. The teaching conditions have been greatly improved, the teaching quality has been steadily improved, and the school has also developed into a third-level class with thirty-six classes. In 1996, seven people, including Minghui and Jia Liya, won the provincial first prize in the Henan Physics Olympiad. In 1997, four people, including Yang Chaodong, Jia Liya, and Li Jianhui, were admitted to Tsinghua University and Peking University respectively. In 1998, Wang Qi won the Henan Provincial Mathematics Competition. The first place was admitted to Tsinghua University without examination and enjoyed a high reputation in western Henan and even Henan.

In October 2001, in order to promote the development process of creating a famous educational city, Yanshi decided to expand Yanshi High School again. This expansion was located opposite the old campus, and a new campus with complete functions and complete facilities was built. After the new campus was completed in 2004, modern buildings such as administrative buildings, teaching buildings, science and technology laboratory buildings, information technology centers, student apartments, and student restaurants were well-proportioned and magnificent; Zhang Hai Calligraphy Art Museum, "National Standard Grade II" Plastic Sports Field, Student Brand-new facilities such as the amusement park are unique and distinctive. So far, the school has a total area of ??260,000 square meters and a construction area of ??96,000 square meters. It has 80 teaching classes and nearly 6,000 teachers and students.

After the completion of the new campus project in 2004, the conditions for running Yanshi High School were comprehensively upgraded.
