The history of Quanyechang

The opening day of Tianjin Quanyechang was selected as December 21, 1928, and the plaque was written by Hua Shikui, a famous writer in Jinmen. Because it is located in the old French Concession, Quanyechang was originally named "French Mall" before its opening, but it was finally changed to "Quanyechang" based on the opinions of Zai Zhen, one of the shareholders. There are four banners hanging in the venue: "Encourage my compatriots", "Be diligent in your work", "Business is developed" and "The market is getting newer" as the purpose of the venue. The four words "Quanye Shopping Mall" are taken from these four sentences. It is formed by concatenating the first letters of the words. In 1958, Quanyechang merged with the adjacent Tianxiang Shopping Mall. There are 15 operating shopping malls and storage and transportation departments in the venue, with nearly 30,000 varieties of products and a daily passenger flow of nearly 200,000. These three figures alone are enough to illustrate the charm of Quanyechang.

Today’s Quanyechang is still the brightest pearl on Jin Street. The twin stars of the new and old buildings are dazzling, and the beautiful neon lights flash together. Walk into that dazzling world and feel the persuasion. The "field" atmosphere gushing out from the business field has gone far beyond the simple combination of counters and goods, and has become the embodiment of the perfect combination of business and culture.

Quanyechang was built in 1928 by the general manager of Jinbao Coal Sales Department of Jingxing Mining Bureau and comprador Gao Xingqiao Holdings. It was the largest department store in North China at that time. The plaque of "Tianjin Quanyechang" was written by the famous calligrapher Hua Shikui. When it opened, the sign "I urge my compatriots to be diligent in their work, develop business and expand the market" was hung in the venue when it opened. The investors do not directly participate in the operation, but adopt the method of attracting investment by cargo space. At most, there are more than 300 large and small merchants and stalls in the building. There are eight entertainment venues in the venue, including Tianhuajing Cinema, Tiangong Cinema, and Tianleping Cinema, collectively known as the "Eight Heavens". Quanyechang integrates shopping, entertainment and leisure, and is a famous time-honored commercial brand in China. The building is located at Nos. 152 to 166 Binjiang Road, Heping District. It is a historical building with a special protection level. It was built by French businessman Yonghe Construction Company and designed by French engineer Mu Le. The building is a five-story building with a frame structure (some eight stories), with stone veneer, various window forms, and an eclectic architectural form. In 1964, he was assigned to work in Quanyechang from Tianjin No. 2 Commercial School. After entering the store, I was really excited when faced with the spacious store, the spiral staircase, the gold-plated plaques and the dazzling array of products. A major feature of the mall back then was the cabinet-top display. That is, on the top of each counter there is a group of physical shapes made of products. Each group of "three-dimensional sculptures" has a distinct theme. For example, the top of the soap counter is made of soap arranged in the shape of Tiananmen Square. The exquisite placement and clear meaning are amazing.

The most eye-catching thing is the glass showcase on the outer wall of Quanyechang. Here, art masters have carefully designed many electronic product displays, such as a miniature model of my country's first artificial satellite orbiting the earth in the 1970s, playing the music of "The East Is Red" constantly. This set of window displays attracted a large number of tourists to stop and watch, becoming a beautiful cultural landscape on Binjiang Road.

During the period of the planned economy, Quanyechang was the main supply base for commodities needed by the people of Tianjin, and its business was always booming. At that time, each floor had its own marketing hot spots. The bicycles, sewing machines, and large wardrobes on the first floor of Tianxiang; the nylon socks on the first floor of Quanye, the leather shoes on the second floor, the 9-inch small TV on the third floor, and the Meihua brand watches and Sanwu brand desk clocks on the fourth floor are all in different places. The period whetted the appetite of customers. At that time, before opening every day, more than a hundred customers would gather outside all the gates around Quanyechang. After the door bell rang, they would rush in and rush to start a "short distance race" to run the stairs.
