Looking through the carved iron gate in Siming Village, this is a Shikumen house with red tiles and red walls. Next to the iron gate, there is a bronze village of Shanghai municipal-level protected buildings, called Siming Village.
Most of the earliest residents of Siming Village were senior staff of Siming Bank. Since then, some "big bosses" have moved in one after another: some run enterprises, some run car shops ... These residents have relatively high quality and good economic conditions. One door number per household is the basic pattern of residents in Siming village. It is not uncommon for a dozen people in a big family to live in nearly ten rooms and one person to live in a house. These well-educated residents have little contact with each other, and there are almost no disputes between neighbors. The gossip of three aunts and six grandmothers will never spread to the alley ... Siming village in the concession era is very quiet, but it can't hide its lofty atmosphere.
During the Cultural Revolution, the residents of Siming Village were completely changed, and senior staff and capitalists were swept out of the house. At the same time, the working class began to enter Siming village. In the past, there was only one house number, but at that time, there were seven or eight households at most.
Of course, all this has greatly improved with the development of Shanghai's economy. According to the statistics of Siming Village's neighborhood committee from June 5438 to February 2006, there are 724 households with more than 2000 residents in Siming Village. Calculated, the average number of people per household is about 3, and the degree of congestion has been reduced. However, Siming village is no longer an insurmountable territory in the concession era. It has become a civilian and historic old alley in Shanghai. More than half a century ago, Siming Village was a quiet place. It is only a stone's throw from Nanjing Road in the north, and near Huaihai Road via Julu Road in the south. There are many cultural people living in this place, and there are also its own reasons. Among the people who have lived in Siming Village, there are many writers and poets. Every time I walk by, I feel light and awe.
On May 8, 2005, 18 was officially named "Cultural Celebrity Village". Among them, the classic love between Xu Zhimo and Lu Xiaoman is remarkable; Tagore's back, Indian poet, world literary master; The beautiful image of the famous movie star Hu Die in 1930s and 1940s: the beautiful prose of Lu Xun's cousin Zhou, happened in this new alley with historical imprint. Siming village is the epitome of the whole Shanghai celebrity hutong, and Siming village culture is an important part of the whole Shanghai hutong culture.
Tagore
Tagore, a famous Indian poet and Nobel Prize in Literature winner, once lived here. On the wall of Siming Village, you can read his poem: "The world talks to me with pictures, and my soul answers with music." Another sentence is: "trees are like the earth's desire." They all stood on tiptoe to peep at the sky. " Tagore's connection with China and Shanghai can be found in Siming Village, Julu Road, which is really unexpected.
Taiyan Zhang
Zhang Taiyan, a famous writer in China, once lived in Siming Village, which is unknown to many Shanghainese. His famous saying suddenly appeared on the corridor wall of Siming Village: "What you get occasionally should not be wise, but it is foolish to think of yourself. Fool thrice, wise thrice, and learn something. " "If you learn, you will suffer, suffer, suffer, suffer." This is a kind of wisdom different from Tagore. If you stop to read carefully, it will give people a deep aftertaste and make people alert.
Xu Zhimo and Lu Xiaoman.
Many young people in Shanghai have seen a TV series, so they know that Xu Zhimo loves to die and live. But Xu Zhimo and Lu Xiaoman left their mark in Siming Village, and not so many people knew it. An article recalled that Xu Zhimo was Tagore's translator during his stay in Shanghai. This may be the reason why Xu Zhimo and Tagore live in Siming Village. Later generations carved Xu Zhimo's poem here: "I want to know my direction, fly, fly, fly, there is my direction on this ground." I don't need a vast sky, I just need a minute, I just need a little light. Reading such a poem, it is not difficult to see the poet's free and easy character and pursuit of freedom.
