The Department of Chinese Painting was founded in 1958. In the past 50 years, the Ministry has experienced three stages of development. In the early days of the establishment of the Department, the teaching purpose of the Department of Chinese Painting was to reflect life, the achievements of new China construction and the spirit of the times as masters of the country. Based on life, a teaching system combining Soviet-style teaching with traditional painting teaching in China has been formed. During this period, our department hired famous painters, including professors Wang Shenglie, Zhong Zhifu, Ji Guanzhi, Yan and Guo Xihe, to teach in the department, and trained a large number of outstanding painters and painters, which laid the foundation for the professional construction and teaching development of Chinese painting department. From the early 1980s to the 1990s, with the emancipation of the mind and the reform and opening up, Chinese painting teaching entered a new stage of development, and formed the teaching characteristics of facing life, reflecting the times, having solid realistic basic skills, expressing real life and major historical themes. In recent years, the Department of Chinese Painting has carried out beneficial reforms and innovations in the professional structure, teaching content, curriculum and teacher allocation around the professional characteristics formed in the long-term teaching process. It not only pays attention to the research and grasp of vertical traditional cultural resources, but also pays attention to the absorption and integration of modern cultural resources. It insists on teaching as the center and promotes skill training with creative practice, and has achieved remarkable results in teaching, scientific research and creation.
