Liu Luoguo, courtesy name Liu Yong, was born in the Qing Dynasty and his ancestral home is Gaomi, Shandong.
1. Liu Yong was given the posthumous title "Wenqing" after his death, so his image as an upright official is basically beyond doubt.
2. Liu Yong was a Jinshi in the Qianlong Dynasty, but he had never passed the examination of scholar or scholar before becoming a Jinshi. We all know that the imperial examination is based on the level of Tongsheng, Xiucai, Juren, and Jinshi. The reason why Liu Yong was able to directly take the imperial examination was because his family was an official in the past and he was a child of a high-ranking cadre.
3. Liu Yong's calligraphy is unique and he is one of the four major calligraphers in the Qing Dynasty.
4. Liu Yong was born in a family of scholarly officials. During the 160 years from 1652 to 1812, more than 90 men were born in his family, 11 of whom were Jinshi and 35 were Juren. , a total of 46 people with meritorious status. This is not easy. You must know that it is very difficult to pass the Jinshi exam in the Qing Dynasty. The lowest number of Jinshi people in the country was only 89, and the highest number was only more than 360. For example, Shanxi produced only one Jinshi in the entire Qing Dynasty, Wang Jie. This also reflects the prosperity of the Liu Yong family in the Qing Dynasty.
5. The peak of Liu Yong’s family’s political career was his father Liu Tongxun. Liu Tongxun was one of the most relied-upon ministers in the early and mid-Qianlong period. He served as the Minister of the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Personnel, and the Ministry of Punishment, as well as the chief master of the Shangshufang (i.e., the head of the Shangshu), a bachelor of Dongge University, the president of the Hanlin Academy, and a military commander. As a minister, the number of important positions he held at the same time could only be compared with that of Heshen in the late Qianlong period. Qianlong had great trust in Liu Tongxun, and his level of trust was no less than that of He Shen who followed him. Liu Tongxun lived a life of integrity, uprightness, dedication, and conscientiousness. In 1774, he died of illness on his way to court. Emperor Qianlong personally went to express his condolences at his home. When his sedan arrived in front of Liu Tongxun's home, he could not enter because the door was too small. This shows Liu Tongxun's integrity. . On the way back to the palace, Qianlong was so sad that he shed tears, sighing that I had lost a leg when Tongxun died. Liu Tongxun's posthumous title is "Wenzheng". This posthumous title is a very high honor. Only 8 ministers in the entire Qing Dynasty received this honor posthumously. Liu Tongxun was the second minister to receive this posthumous title. The first one was Yu Chenglong of the Kangxi Dynasty. .
6. Liu Yong was very talented in literature. When he was selected as Jinshi, a minister suggested that he should be selected as the number one scholar. Later, Liu Yong stopped because of Liu Tongxun's obstruction.
7. The Qing Dynasty did not establish the position of prime minister, and Liu Yong was never able to enter the core layer of power-the Military Aircraft Department throughout his life. Therefore, the word prime minister in Prime Minister Liu Luoguo is worthy of discussion.
8. Although Liu Yong was an upright official, his integrity was far inferior to Nai's father. In fact, Liu Yong was quite slippery in the middle and later stages. And in reality, Liu Yong did not fight against the literary inquisition as described in the TV series. He was even the initiator of two literary inquisitions (according to the laws of the Qing Dynasty at the time, there were indeed taboo words and intentions in these two incidents, but that was not the case) It’s not that Liu Yong created something out of nothing). Therefore, it can be said that Liu Yong was loyal to his duties and dedicated to his duties, and he was a loyal minister. It can also be said that Liu Yong was clean and honest, and he was an upright official. But when it comes to true integrity, he is not as good as his father Liu Tongxun, or even as good as his grandfather Liu Qi. Therefore, his posthumous title after his death was only "Wenqing", unlike his father who received the highest praise of "Wenzheng".
9. According to the research of historians, Liu Yong was humorous by nature. He was an official in the same dynasty as He Shen for 20 years and was 30 years older than He Shen. Therefore, it is unfair to say that he occasionally joked with He Shen. It should be noted that He Xun is a bit unable to get off the stage. But to say that Liu Yong was an enemy of corrupt officials and gentry, fighting wits and courage, is just a fiction made by the novelist, because Liu Yong did not have this strength on the one hand, and it did not fit with his personality on the other.
10. Liu Yong was not born a hunchback. Liu Luo Guo was actually called Liu Luo Guo during the Jiaqing Dynasty, when Liu Yong was over 80 years old and his back was hunched over. Emperor Jiaqing jokingly called him Liu Luo Guozi, and the title Liu Luo Guo came about from then on.
Liu Yong may be very different from the prime minister Liu Luoguo in everyone's mind, but history is history, and this is the real Liu Luoguo. Speaking of which, his father Liu Tongxun is more respected.
However, such characters are actually real people with flesh and blood. Don’t talk about ancient times, let’s talk about modern Chinese politics. Isn’t it only Premier Zhou who has such a convincing great personality and charm? This also means that real great sages in reality are indeed hard to find!
